Preschool: L for Lacing

This was also done at Audrey's house but I was very impressed with how well Hailey did. Josie told me that she just put the L shaped card with the holes punched and the ribbon with tape on the ends and just had them go without showing them first. I have done a lot of sewing by hand recently and Hailey has sat by me to watch but I'm still surprised by what she did herself.

They also painted the ladybugs and put the dots and the face on. Josie comes up with the cutest ideas.

L is for Lamb

Hailey has her little stuff lamb that she loves, so I wanted to do an activity with lambs.(picture taken May 28, 2007)

We made a Little Bo Peep Mobile. Hailey decorated the lambs by putting cotton balls on.
Hailey did a great job gluing and coloring Bo Peep with crayons.
I put the rest of it together. Hailey likes seeing all the lambs dangling down.
To finish up we read "One Little Lamb" by Elaine Greenstein. I had very short phrases to describe how one little lamb's wool made mittens for a little girl. Hailey liked the pictures. We read it twice.

L is for Lions

To start on our lion adventure, we read "The Show-and-Tell Lion" by Barbara Abercrombie. It's about a little boy who made up a story about owning a lion for show and tell day. When it came time to tell the truth, he showed the class the book he wrote about this lion. It's a cute book about using your imagination and telling the truth.
Then we made a lion mask. Last night, I cut up the brown, yellow, and orange paper. I also had the paper plate's middle cut out and ears and a handle attached. I thought that would be too difficult for Hailey.

I had Hailey point out which color she wanted on the lion mask. During this Hailey started singing to her paper, rocking it, and telling it to go night-night. It was cute but very random.
I curled the ends with a pencil and Hailey liked playing with it.
Hailey is roaring like a lion in this picture.
