Hailey made a cute hat and decorated the letter H with hearts for preschool at Audrey’s. She loves her hat.
For Joy School, the color of the day was White. *Side note: I think the color of the day is pointless because it doesn’t fit well with the rest of the lesson*

The real focus of the lesson was on animals since they are a part of nature. We did a riddle game with flannel board pictures to introduce animals. The last animal we had was a bird. From there we talked about how birds migrate and that it’s hard finding food in the winter. So, we made bird feeders out of pine cones to help them out. The kids enjoyed this.

They found their own pine cone and put peanut butter on it themselves (I helped after they tried). Then they rolled it in sunflower seeds. Hanging them up was a little tricky and messy. The yarn kept slipping off.

After that we talked about what animals give us and learned a silly song “Oh Cow, Oh Cow.” This song and activity used a lot of pictures. I doubt many kids from Hailey's generation will know what a flannel board is so here's a picture of ours.

Then we finished off the day with frosted animal crackers.

H is for Hands and Hippos

The letter of the day is "H"!!!!
We first traced our hands on the letter H template for letter recognition.

This is a paper I copied out of the Primary Helper Book Volume 2 for Sunbeams. One side it has "I'm thankful for my hands" and the other side has pictures of things we can do with our hands.
Hailey cut and glued hers together. (I helped guide the paper while she cut). She is getting a lot better at cutting. She tries to turn right hand at different angles to cut, so we are working on keeping the hand straight up and down.

Hailey needed a lot of help with this craft and Robert woke up and was fussy in his highchair so I didn't get a lot of pictures of this craft. Here is the finished product.

This is a cute video of Hailey playing with the hippo puppets. I love hearing her talk at this age. She's still trying to figure out how to pronounce somethings.

We read "How to be a Happy Hippo" by Jonathan Shipton and Illustrated by Sally Percy. Hailey loved this book and kept saying "hippo" which made it a little difficult to read. I like the story line of the book. It's about a baby hippo who just wants to play with his dad and finally captures his dad into playing with him. Hailey is a kid who definitely needs both of her parents to be happy. I also love the illustrations. Sally Percy drew very cute hippos.
